This residential projects sits within a leafy street in the suburb of Lakefield in South Africa, on a rare north-facing site.

Architecturally, the residence challenges traditional planning typologies of private and open spaces within a single-family dwelling. The u-shaped plan is designed around a central timber deck onto which all the living spaces and guest bedroom open up to.

Overall, the depth of the floor plan was kept thin to allow for natural daylighting to penetrate and for all rooms to enjoy northern passive heating during the winter.
